February 12, 1945 – July 6, 2026
William A. “Billy” Fusco founded Dynamic Youth Community with a simple but powerful belief: every young person deserves the opportunity to recover, heal, and build a better future. What began more than 55 years ago as one man’s vision grew into an organization that has transformed the lives of thousands of adolescents, young adults, and families throughout New York.
Billy dedicated his life to the field of substance use disorder treatment, drawing from his own recovery journey and more than five decades of professional experience. As Founder and Executive Director, he guided every aspect of Dynamic Youth Community’s growth – from program development and clinical leadership to advocacy and organizational vision. Following his retirement as Executive Director, he continued to serve as Special Advisor, generously sharing his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering commitment to the mission he created.
Beyond Dynamic Youth Community, Billy was a respected leader and advocate, serving on numerous government and professional boards, including as Chairman of the Coalition for Community Services and on the Executive Board of the Therapeutic Communities Association of New York. His voice helped shape addiction treatment and recovery services across New York State.
Those who knew Billy understood that behind his straightforward nature was an extraordinary heart. He challenged people because he believed in them, stood by them through their struggles, and never stopped believing that recovery was possible. His compassion, perseverance, and unwavering dedication inspired generations of staff, alumni, families, and community leaders.
Billy’s greatest legacy is not the organization he built, but the countless lives forever changed because he refused to give up on young people and their families. His vision continues to guide Dynamic Youth Community, and his mission lives on in every life we help transform.
Saving lives since 1970. Carrying Billy’s legacy forward every day.
